![]() Intermediate School Track & Field Tournament at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA. They came, they saw, they conquered!!! Thousands of middle school students from all over Southern California participated in the Mt. Sac Youth Day event yesterday. This was our first year attending this event and we registered 60 students from Santa Ana. Our students participated in a variety of track & field events throughout the day and more than 20 earned medals in their heats and several earned more than one! Not only were our students competitive, but well behaved and gracious - cheering one another across the finish line. Thanks to Roxanna for overseeing the registration process, transportation and for helping us keep track of our many winners, to our coaches for taking the extra time to prepare their students for "game day", and to Dr. Noji's assistant, Marcus, who was a tremendous help as our chaperone for the day. Dawn Miller joined us and congratulated our winners as they took their "victory photo".
One of our students, an 8th grader from Mendez, fell during a 1500 meter heat. Coach Hector informed me today that he will be in a sling for about a week or so. He told me that he plans to attend Godinez and would like to continue to participate in RunStrong - however, he will have to opt out of the race next Sun., March 30th :) It was a terrific event and we were able to expose our students to a new, competitive experience...and watch them shine!!!
