The Kevin Armstrong, M.D. Memorial Sports Foundation and Athletic Conditioning Injury Center last week sponsored a catastrophic injury management drill for high school athletic directors, coaches, trainers and other school personnel at Segerstrom High School's stadium in Santa Ana. Participants representing 17 Orange County high schools and 14 Los Angeles County high schools learned and practiced industry guidelines and the recommended methods for treating the most common catastrophic sports injuries such as heat illnesses, spinal cord injuries and cardiac arrest which can affect high school athletes.
